Solar Powered Flood Light

Review of Solar Powered Flood Lights

Have you ever thought of adding a solar powered flood light to your yard or garden? We all have those areas in our yard where we could use a little light. Maybe you want to highlight your driveway or a special nook in your garden. Either way, a flood light may be just what you need.

These solar flood lights charge up during the day so it can shine all night. You don't need to worry about forgetting to turn it on because it turns on automatically when it gets dark. It comes attached to a short stake to make installation easy.

Made by Ewins, this solar powered flood light can also keep your house safe by lighting up any dark areas where burglars could lurk.

Use this small, focused spot light to highlight garden statuary, or to light your driveway. You can also point it at your mailbox to let other drivers know it's there. Maybe you have a favorite tree in the yard to highlight, or a water feature you'd like to light up at night.

  • There are eight super bright LED bulbs to make this solar flood light as bright as possible.
  • The LED brightness of these clear bulbs is 80000mcd.
  • These flood lights have a 5 volt solar panel attached to each light.
  • Rechargeable batteries are size AA and type Ni-Mh 1.2 volt. Three batteries go in each light.

What We Like

With eight bulbs instead of one, these solar powered flood lights are much brighter than your average solar light. When angled up at the house, it lights it well at night, adding curb appeal and making your house safer at night.

They can also be used to highlight trees, statuary, water features or anything else you want to feature. They are easy to assemble and install, and work well in most cases.

What We Don't Like

Some lights did not function as promised. Some seem to be much dimmer than others, while some died after a few days or weeks. Replacing the batteries did not seem to help. Moving the light to receive more sun during the day did not remedy the problem, either.

Ewins, the manufacturer, charges a 25% restocking fee, making returns potentially expensive.

Overall, the solar powered flood lights seem to provide a nice, bright light wherever you put them. They are easy to assemble and install. However, a good 30 to 40% of the time, there were problems with the lights right out of the package. Whether the quality control is the problem or not is unclear.

The manufacturer offers a 1 year warranty, but charges a 25% restocking fee, which can serve to make consumers less satisfied when they need to make a return. If you can get a good deal on these lights, it may be worth the risk to try them out. When they work properly, they really are nice solar flood lights.
